FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Below you can find some of the most frequently asked questions about the tiles.
What type of tiles do we use?
By its nature the glossy 6x6'' or (15.2x15.2cm) tiles we use, have a softer finish than some other tiles on the market and therefore they tend to scratch more easily. We use them because the images on the high gloss tiles are very bright and vibrant and almost look 3D.
What type of process do we use?
Each tile is individually hand-printed. This means that by nature minor imperfections are part of the appeal of this product. Especially for the 4-tile mosaics we try our very best to match up the lines as best as possible, but sometimes there may be a couple of millimeters variance. This is part of what makes your piece unique.
How do I look after my tile?
Your tile shouldn’t need a lot of care but should you want to take fingerprints off. We always recommend using a soft lint-free microfibre cloth and gently brushing the tile with it. Should you need a slightly deeper clean you can use a bleach-free spray or foam cleaner and repeat this with the microfibre cloth. It's important to avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive sponges when cleaning the tiles.
Are the tiles suitable for interior use?
The great thing about the 6x6’’ tiles we use is that they are widely available worldwide. We often get the question whether the tiles are suitable to incorporate into kitchens, bathrooms and commercial spaces. The answer is yes, if the right care is taken and the following guidelines are followed:
-
The space is indoors
-
The tiles are wall tiles and are not suitable for floors.
-
The area is purely decorative and will require no/minimal cleaning- we would advise against incorporating it in spaces that require deep cleaning- eg. In areas prone to grease marks or exposure to cosmetic products and excessive water.
-
The correct cleaning measures are taken (see point above: ‘‘How do I look after my tile?’’
Do you provide an installation service or can I buy blank tiles off you?
No, we do not provide an installation service or an option to purchase blank tiles. The tiles are widely available however so you will be able to get your hands on them should you wish :) Should you wish to install the tiles in a space, please note we cannot take responsibility post-purchase.
I want to take the risk and install the tiles into a space. What tips can you give?
Should you wish to install the tiles at your own risk, we would recommend you request the tiler to apply a sealant before the tiles are grouted followed by using a non-sanded grout. In terms of care post-installation we always recommend using spray or foam cleaners (make sure they have no bleach or harsh chemicals) and softly rub them with a lint free microfibre cloth or sponge. It's important to avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive sponges when cleaning the tiles.
